The CSCS Profiled Route was introduced in 2011 as a route to the Black or Gold Card for construction site managers or supervisors who have on-site experience but no nationally recognised qualification in construction. The primary objective of CSCS is to provide evidence that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out.
With the announcement made by the construction leadership council, Profiled Route no longer supports industry’s desire for a fully qualified workforce.
Applicants will still be able to apply for a Construction Site Manager or Construction Site Supervisor CSCS card, but will be required to complete an NVQ/SVQ levels 4, 5, 6 or 7*.
Please note that existing cards issued under Profiled Route will remain valid and can be renewed as normal provided applicants renew their cards in line with CSCS scheme requirements.
Do you know which health & safety training course will value you the most in your line of work? If not here is some information about our CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) courses and what they entail.

CSCS Card Changes
There have been a number of changes made to CSCS with the latest being the removal of acceptance of profiled route applications. The Profiled Route was introduced in 2011 and was intended for construction site managers or supervisors who have onsite experience but do not hold a nationally recognised qualification in construction. From 1st April 2016 CSCS will stop accepting profiled route applications; this has been introduced to support the industry by encouraging further development of a qualified workforce.
The familiar IPAF’s Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator training programme will be taking a giant step forward with the introduction of a new eLearning tool available from 1 February 2016 in the UK. After two years of research, testing and significant investment, the new learning materials are set to deliver flexibility and interactivity, with the same emphasis on practical training.
For the first time, trainees have an option of completing the theory module of the operator course via an interactive eLearning platform. They can complete the eLearning module online – anytime, anywhere, on most any device, at a pace to suit them.
Trainees opting to attend our training centre for the full instructor-led theory course will also benefit from the same state-of-the-art graphics, animations and learning techniques. They will continue to interact with an experienced instructor and fellow trainee operators in a classroom setting.
Whether trainees choose to complete the theory part via the eLearning module or the instructor-led course, all trainees must still pass a supervised theory assessment at one of our audited and approved training centres. Trainees will then proceed to the practical session and must pass a supervised practical assessment conducted by one of Kentec’s IPAF-certified instructor. Successful trainees will receive a Smart PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) and Certificate as proof of operator training.
